Successful or rather winning CVs are usually put to the top of the pile as suitable candidates for interview. Your CV, or Curriculum Vitae may have been overlooked in the past for any number of reasons. You may have the qualifications and skills you need for a specific job, but if your CV is not properly addressed it may never even be opened. Be assured the majority of our CVs are shortlisted and put to the top of the “suitable for interview” pile.

If you want your CV to be successful you need to check the spelling of the person and company you are addressing your CV to. It has been known for potential employers to throw out a good CV without even looking at it because their name has been spelt wrong on the envelope. A good example of this would be where there are two or three spellings of a particular name e.g. Lesley or Leslie, Jane or Jayne and so forth. The correct spelling of a particular name can usually be found in the relevant advertisement feature, if you do not have a name or unsure how to spell it, it is a good idea to check with the receptionist of the company you are looking to work for.

Once your CV is handed to the right person you have a much better chance of being invited to interview. To ensure you have the best chance possible your CV must be clean and tidy, free from spelling errors and set out in an easy to read and easy to understand manner. Your CV must also, as a matter of courtesy, include a cover letter.
