I am sure you have all heard of the phrase “Different strokes for different folks”. The same applies to your curriculum vitae. In order for your CV to be seen as great, as opposed to mediocre or ordinary; your CV will need to address your specific skills and expertise and this will be best laid out dependent on your job sector and the position you are targeting. A great CV will have to be demonstrated through a great presentation; a great layout and great dynamic wordplay.
There are four main types of CVs; however some CVs may be a variation of one or two dependent on specific criteria, job markets and level of management.
Chronological CV or rather reverse Chronological CV
Although many people think this is now an older style of CV it is still widely used for trainees, students and those in lower paid jobs.
Typically it lists all your qualifications first followed by your most recent position; it then works back to your very first job. For simplicity you will find the order of this CV listed below. Please note that whilst many employers asked for your date of birth details in previous years there is now government legislation regarding age discrimination and this is no longer a requirement. That being said some employers may think it has been overlooked, in error, so we feel that it is still a good idea to leave it on.
